Monday at City Council: a guide to everything else on the agenda on budget amendment night
Beyond the 15 budget amendments, the Nov. 2 agenda carries a held security contract, a Highland rezoning hearing, a $65,000 police settlement, a soccer stadium easement and dozens of contracts. Here is what each is and where to read more.
Monday, Nov. 2, is the Denver City Council's last regular meeting before Election Day, and the headline is the budget: 15 amendments to Mayor Mike Johnston's 2027 plan, covered in our latest story.
But the agenda has dozens of other items, from a held $11 million security contract to a rezoning hearing. Most will pass in a single block vote unless a member "calls out" an item for a separate vote or a delay. Here is what is on it, grouped by topic, with links to our earlier coverage.
Items held over from last week
Securitas security guards and the Red Rocks Toyota sponsorship. On Oct. 26, Council member Shontel Lewis called out both for a one-week delay, as we reported. 26-1497 would add $11 million and nine months to the city's Securitas Security Services USA contract, for a total of $82.2 million through Sept. 30, 2027. 26-1480 would add $861,000 and two years to an exclusive Denver Arts & Venues sponsorship with the Denver Region Toyota Dealers Advertising Group, for a total of $2.09 million through May 2029. A one-week postponement does not stop a vote; both are back Monday.
A public hearing
North Mariposa Street rezoning. 26-1406 would rezone three Highland lots to allow townhomes up to three stories. One lot now allows five stories. Our preview has the details and the committee vote.
