Summary
The Denver City Council met on September 9, 2024, hearing member announcements, introducing numerous bills, and acting on several called-out items. The Council adopted a resolution allocating remaining ARPA dollars to the Downtown Denver Partnership for 16th Street Mall recovery (three members spoke in opposition, and the vote was announced as 3 nays and 10 ayes), and postponed a resolution for a Haven of Hope contract supporting the Denver Asylum Seekers Program by one week after extensive questions about the shift from direct cash assistance to food distribution. The Council unanimously adopted Council Bill 24-0813, granting the auditor subpoena authority over city contractors subject to audit committee approval, after an amendment adding that oversight. Two proclamations were adopted (National Service Dog Month and a welcoming-city/diversity proclamation responding to racist signs posted along Colorado Boulevard), and three required public hearings were held, including adoption of the sidewalk ordinance amendments (Council Bill 24-1076) implementing Ordinance 307, which passed 13-0, and approval of a metropolitan district service plan and a Westwood rezoning. Several remarks by a member whose name the captions render inconsistently ("Perry"/"parity") could not be matched to the roster and are not attributed below.

9:44 recognizing observes that
9:47 SEPTEMBER 11th 2001 was a.
9:48 A point have time in our in
9:52 our country, in our planet.
9:54 I don't know how to transition
9:58 away from that from just kinda
9:59 on Thursday after SEPTEMBER,
10:00 11th, the Civic Center park
10:04 just turned 100 years old a
10:04 couple years ago and the Civic
10:08 Center Conservancy is coming
10:08 up with the plan for the next
10:11 100 years for Civic Center
10:12 park. And that is there is a
10:15 garden party to benefit the
10:17 conservancy and that vision
10:23 on Thursday at 06:00pm at the
10:23 McNichols East Lawn. Also
10:25 Friday evening, in addition to
10:29 the important conversation
10:31 about housing stability, that
10:32 there are 3 events there Teller
10:35 Elementary, which is in
10:36 Congress Park is having a block
10:37 party from 04:00pm to 09:00pm

10:47 be closing down some of the
10:47 streets right around Teller.
10:52 Also Greenway Foundation, which
10:56 is a instrumental foundation
10:58 helping us with that with our
11:01 challenge of our planet and
11:04 making sure that we have
11:05 this sustainable at a
11:06 sustainable environment.
11:07 It is having a an event on
11:10 Friday evening. Their gala from
11:13 6.30, to
11:13 09:00pm and the historic 19th
11:17 Street pedestrian bridge in
11:18 Conyers Commons park. Also
11:21 together, Denver from 5 to
11:22 6.30. I'll be a guest there.
11:27 Its an organization that's
11:29 trying to get more young people
11:33 registered to vote and to vote.
11:34 So from 5 to 6.30, we will be
11:34 back. Call me Pearl. And then
11:37 at 6.30, we'll be heading over
11:37 to the Rockies game. So like

11:58 we share where it's all of them
11:59 are. So next of COUNCILMAN Say.
12:02 Thanks, MADAM PRESIDENT.
12:03 I just didn't, but I appreciate
12:04 counselor Hines acknowledging
12:05 SEPTEMBER 11th. For those of
12:07 you who know me know, I lived
12:09 through SEPTEMBER. 11th in
12:10 Washington, D.C., it was not my
12:11 favorite day. It's not going to
12:14 talk about very often. But I
12:15 did just want to acknowledge
12:16 it. And and to ask if we could
12:18 just take a moment of silence
12:18 for all of the people that we
12:21 lost during SEPTEMBER 11th that
12:22 day and also all of the people
12:26 that we have lost sense to
12:27 things like lung cancer, from
